Just thought I'd drop a note to those that tried to help me. My client
informed me that he had a fudge factor of a couple months so I have a
month to work with Cinlerra and learn before I really have to start
producing. I now have a good install and am putting video in and things

You're going to need a lot more development libraries
When I ran the configure script for cinelerra it told me gave the following:
--- FFMPEG CONFIGURATION SECTION --
quicktime/ffmpeg/configure --disable-altivec
Install prefix /usr/local
Source path /home/jovan/hvirtual/quicktime/ffmpeg
C compiler gcc
make make
C
What is your source material, SD or HDV and have you tried clicking in
Playback preferances
Audio Driver = ALSA
and
Stop playback locks up tab checked ?
