strange, that worked
Open the session from the command line, eg. "cinelerra /dir/my_file.xml"
If it crashes (Cinelerra is designed to crash "gracefully") just run
"cinelerra" and then Load Backup from the file dialog. And save frequently!

Hi again
I rendered a file with MPEG4Video/MP3 in a Microsoft avi container and
sent it to someone with a Mac. They said it appeared to play but
showed only black screen and no audio.
Suggestions?
Thanks

There are no *sane* defaults.
For end-users MPEG-4/mp3 might be ok, although H.264/AAC is much better.
Professionals will rather use some uncompressed format (like the yuv2 you

When I open this file next session, I get the media resources back but no
project back until I load the backup.

If I render as quicktime for linux, mplayer says:
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x32767579.
Both w32codecs and ubuntu-restricted-extras are instralled.
If I render as avi, I get the same message!
What is going on here?

unfortunately this didn't fix it.
Hi, again,
Just to update you on my progress, and thank you again for your kind help...
1. Installing JACK, Ardour, and xjadeo (qjadeo) wasn't as hard as I'd feared.
(I'm
doing without the RT kernel, since I won't be recording or playing back 'live'.)
2. Ardour is, indeed, very powerful and so

Hi to all.
No one is working with 16:9 video format? I'm using this format with
journalistic shorts taken with a sony dcr-51 (like a handycam). I prefer
16:9 format and the video tracks are acquired with kino in DV wraw format.
Every thing seems be ok, but when I prepare a DV render (16:9 format)
