Is your problem with getting the sound to sync up while editing?

ALSA seems to work best on my system, and IIRC seems to be what most users
recommend.

The "Lock Labels" choice is for editing to keep the labels at a fixed point on
the time line.\

Try selecting the button "Stop playback locks up" right below the choice of
audio drivers.

Under "Video Out" try selecting "Play every frame" - that may slow things down
a little, but seems
to keep the sync for me.

You might want to try changing the video driver, too. It could make a
difference in how fast the
video plays back.

I wouldn't consider a 4 core machine slow. My system is a 3 year old dual core
and editing works
 fine on it.

Please try to use a more descriptive subject line on your requests.

I changed it in my reply.

You'll find that if you use only your name in the subject line you'll soon have
a hard time sorting
out the replies to your questions in your mail box.
