I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 9800, I use the standard radeon driver (because
the fglrx driver does not work with my dual video card setup) and experience
the same problem(s) as you do. If I logout of X, then the display resets
itself and Cin behaves properly.

Indeed, if I try to start two separate mplayer processes, both using the
same xv port (there is only 1 according to xvinfo), then mplayer
complains on the second video that it cannot access the xv port.
