switch question

Hi all, I have a question concerning Catalyst switches. I have two 3500's and one 1900 and when I try to release and renew an IP address on the 1900 it is fine, but when I try on the 3500 it appears to drop the request. Is there an IP-HELPER address on the switch such as there is on a router?

I have 2 years of industry experience doing desktop support and I just got my CCNA and will be taking the CLSC next week and would like to get a job working with Cisco hardware and lan/wan support.  Does anyone know of where would be  a good place to look. I seem to run into brick walls ever
