Hi Amit,

First the requirement to do VoIP is to have 150ms delay end-to-end. Delay
upto 300ms is allowed as long as both sides realize that there is going to
be some delay.

Out of the 150ms, 50-75ms is taken up for router processing. So you have
another 75ms to 100ms for sending data from one side to another.

Satellites are around 22500miles in spaces (assuming geostationary
satellites). The roundtrip for the signal to go to the space and come back
down is going to be around 500ms (Refer to Cisco Voice over IP
Fundamentals Pg 169)

This total latency of around 500ms to 600ms makes the voice like CB Radio.
