spanning tree (PVST) which allows a separate spantree instance per Vlan
which makes networks more scalable and more stable than dot1q based.

Our core/distribution switches are 2 cat 6506's connected to each other
via a gbit etherchannel providing 2 gbits of bandwidth between the core
switches.
