You can set the config register to not boot the IOS. Then you should be
able to erase the flash. From what you show, it may be a bad simm, bad
motherboard (I've seen that a lot with this type of error), or possibly
older bootroms that don't support the simm in there (though it looks li

You could set up a second gateway route on the cisco with a higher
distance, so it stays unused until the dsl goes down. If you had 2 ciscos
you could do hsrp possibly. Considerations are: are you doing NAT at either
router, are there any servers (mail, web, etc) on the lan that may be
