thanks for the reply. Anyway if the command is run on any of the interfaces,
should this affect in anyway. I just wanna check this cuz the 'sh mls rp'
command on my msfc is not listing the switches in the domain. Any inputs??

I am running mrtg to monitor one of my ethernet ports on the router. Since a
few days, the utilization shown has raised 4fold though no major changes
have been carried out on the intranet. Anybody aware of any such problem.

Enabling spanning tree is ok, but how about changing the mode. As u musst be
aware of, cisco supports 3 different spanning tree modes. common spannig
tree(cst, IEEE standard), per vlan spanning tree(pvst, cisco proprietary)
and pvst+(cisco proprietary interoperable with cst). Are these modes

Hi,
How do i configure the spanning tree mode (cst, pvst, pvst+) on my 6509,
4006, 3524 and 3548 switches.
I had faced problems while establishing a trunk link inbetween a 4006 and a
3524 switch. Has anyone faced any problems in such a scenario.

VLANs are NOT created on the PC. U need to create them on a switch.
if ur connecting the win2k box to an access port on the switch, no special
lan card is required. What u have should work.

I set up a dummy pvc between a spare card (with older firmware) and another
working card in another node. While burning the firmware, the tstdelay
failed. That was shocking. I was gonna do this for my working card with 12
pvcs!!!

I have a UFM card with 12 PVCs configured and running. I need to upgrade the
firmware of the card which would take round 10 mins. and the then the card
will be resetted. Will the data traffic get affected during the upgrade
period??

HI,
port shown as 'not connect' on the 4006 switch. The LED is green on the
switch as well as on the NIC. Tried disabling and reenabling the port. No
go. What should cause this.

I am using cisco press BCMSN coursebook authored by Karen Webb. how good is
this book? do i need to go for anything else other than this one so as to
get through the switching exam?
Also I would like to know about any WAN switching exams (IGX platform)
offered by cisco currently.
