I am sending this out to those of you who has some good experience with the 700 series routers. We have ISDN connections to five of our branch offices here in town, and all ten routers are the 766 or 776 models. They are setup to do bridging so the users in our branch offices uses our network as if they were sitting here, directly connected to the LAN, but because of that, there was no IP addresses setup, so I could not telnet any of them. I went in on the five I have here with a console cable and setup IP addresses, and I can now telnet them, and everything is working fine. I went by one of the branch offices a week ago and enabled an IP address there too, and I am now able to telnet it also. Besides setting up the IP address, I discovered that it was setup to dial the same number on both channels. I corrected it so it would dial the second phone number on the second channel. Somehow one of these two things has affected something in the setup, because they are now having a slower responce time when communicating with our AS400 from their Express Client Access's (it uses port 23). Before they had a response time on 1-2 seconds, but now it is 5. The IP address(es) does not conflict with any existing ones. The RIP is still OFF. If I copy a file from one end to the other, I can not see anything wrong with the bandwidth. Does anyone have a good idea, and/or has anyone seen this before?
