A generic network question

Hi Group If I have a network with all the workstations turned on (e.g. NT Workstations just boot up at the Ctrl+Alt+Del state) but no one is using any of the workstations, will this network have any network traffic? If yes, what kind? And, any tools to monitor this? Thanks. _
