Hi Guys, I have a ATM Internet link and the configuration is present on the physical interface, no sub-interface exists. The details for the ATM ckt is as follows:
Hardware is DS3 (45Mbps) port adaptor Framer is PMC PM7345 S/UNI-PDH, SAR is LSI ATMIZER II Framing mode: DS3 M23 ADM and the interface details are as folows: MTU 4470 bytes, sub MTU 4470, BW 22720 Kbit, DLY 190 usec, rely Encapsulation ATM, loopback not set, keepalive not supported Encapsulation(s): AAL5 for eg, if the ip address assigned to my atm0/0 interface is 10.10.10.1 and at the providers end it is 10.10.10.2, from my router i can only ping 10.10.10.2 but not 10.10.10.1 which is configured on my router. After looking at the arp table on my router i see an entry for the remote side Internet 10.10.10.2 0 6 / 32 ATM ATM/0/0 where 0 is the aging time and 6/32 is the vpi/vci. Everything works fine there are no connectivity problems whatsoever but what baffles me is i cant ping my own atm interface but i can ping the remote end and there are no configs, like access list which will prevent pinging my own interface. At the first look it looked like a ATM arp issue but am not sure. Pls enlighten me.
