Cisco default bridging can only bridge or route a protocol globally. So if you have ip routing enabled, it cannot be bridged. 'bridge crb' lets you bridge or route a protocol per bridge group, and 'bridge irb' lets you bridge and route a protocol bridge group using BVIs.
