I am working to understand how Cisco handles FDDI bridges, but I can't see to find a definitive answer on what I need. I know that if you have 2 bridges that are connected via FDDI and they each have Ethernet hosts on the other side the ethernet hosts can communicate with each other because of encapsulation the bridges do between each other. BUT, lets say you have one station on the FDDI ring, say a SAS, could it communicate with the Ethernet hosts? I am assuming it could since it can translate Ethernet to FDDI and FDDI to Ethernet, then it should be able to to just one of those by itself.... Does anyone know where I can find info on this? And don't answer www.cisco.com, I looked their and found some clues, but not a definitive yes or no. It appears that if you use a translation bridge it will work(?). If you use a transparent bridge it never will because there is not change in encapsulation(?) Thanks in advance. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
