This is a email I got from Cisco today about the new exams, I thought they all would have the sims but that is not true according to this email. Real-World Networking Expertise with Real-World Simulations
Cisco Systems certified professionals are recognized for their networking prowess. Today, June 5, 2002, Cisco has added simulation questions to Cisco professional level certification exams and corresponding courses. These enhancements to the Cisco Career Certifications program will ensure certified professionals continue to provide our customers and partners with the highest level of support and expertise needed for managing and deploying Cisco end-to-end network solutions. Simulation questions approximate real-world networking scenarios on the exam to test a candidate's "hands-on" skill and understanding. The new exams with simulations include BSCI 640-901, Routing 640-603, and Remote Access 640-605 for CCNP(R), CCDP(R), and CCIP(TM) certifications. The exams will feature Flash simulations along with "drag and drop" formatted questions to validate candidate skills. The Switching 640-604 and Support 640-606 exams have been updated as well but do not include simulations or "drag and drops". These updated exams will more accurately reflect a candidate's knowledge and skills. The recommended training to prepare for the professional level certifications is available through Cisco Learning Partners and the Cisco Networking Academy(TM), and now includes integrated course simulations to assist in preparation for the new simulation exam items. The exams are supported by the following recommended courses: Exams Courses BSCI 640-901 Building Scalable Cisco Internetworks (BSCI) Routing 640-603 Building Scalable Cisco Networks (BSCN) Switching 640-604 Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN) Remote Access 640-605 Building Cisco Remote Access Networks (BCRAN) Support 640-606 Building Cisco Internetwork Troubleshooting (CIT) The existing exams will be replaced on June 5, 2002 in all countries, except Japan. Japan will also have the newer exams in English, and will continue to offer the previous exams in Japanese. Candidates who are already registered for an exam over the next six weeks will take the exam they registered for, and not the new version. Candidates with certifications in progress may combine 640-50X and 640-900 with 640-60X and 640-901 exams to achieve their CCNP, CCIP, or CCDP certifications. Simulations will be added to other Cisco certifications exams and recommended courses in the future. Effective June 5, 2002, all candidates will only be able to register for the refreshed versions of the exams.
