Regarding the Slowlaris box i can give you a hint. Look at the /etc/init.d/inetinit file of the solaris box. It is very well explained there under which circumstances solaris acts as a router or not. Excerpt from this file: # Determine how many active interfaces there are and how many pt-pt # interfaces. Act as an IPv4 router if there are more than 2 interfaces # (including the loopback interface) or one or more point-point # interface.
