Mr. Gragido:
I greatly admire your service as a US Marine.I respect a man who has that
type of courage and will to serve and who will give his life for his country
and his comrades. You are obviously a person of great honor and integrity.
But this is not like past Wars, when the enemy was Huge and terrificly
strong and Evil and a sizeable solid nation that could literally land
thousands of troops and tanks on US territory and march down Main Street in
any town. In the 40's, it was very easy to fear Germany and Japan. At no
time did the world need men like you more than in those huge and terrifying
wars.
This time, the enemy has no country or troops. He comes from a land where
all the people are starving and their lifespan is 40. And he is not a
nation, but an invisible mystical calling. Of the total people in
Afghansistan, 99.9 percent are innocent people eating Mud for dinner. It
makes no sense to slaughter them.
The irony is most of the evil ones number only in the thousands at most.
And they are dispersed throughout the Arab world. And the more you kill
them, the more martyrs arise.Believe it or not, the US was the country who
taught them to fight Russia. Now they are unemployed warriors, no different
than the punks on the street corner looking for trouble. Please don't forget
the US accidentally shot down the Vicennes and backs Israel which has sown
quite a bit of damage / destruction in the Middle East.
THINK SMART? Either get out of the Middle East and leave them alone, or
give them Foreign Aid and develop them into prosperous nations. The time for
war on this Planet is over. If one of these groups gets an Atomic Bomb they
will not hesitate to use it on Manhattan. I am sure they will in 15 years or
less. I will always shed tears for the 6000 dead last Tuesday.
But the way to remeber them is to promote peace and not war.If we dont
turn our cheek and seek to negotiate peace and dialogue with them our planet
will be a big empty Rock in 15 years. Respectfully, Richard Chang

As a former United States Marine and one whom may well soon be called upon
to once again ensure the liberty, freedom and safety of the United States I
feel that Heather has brought up a valid point. The tragedy that occurred
on Tuesday does indeed and will no doubt live on in our memories just as
Pearl Harbor did in the memories of an an earlier generation. I feel though
that it is not only important but necessary to curtail the hostility that
some individuals are projecting towards a mass group. Here, in the United
States of America, freedom and courage abound and have done so for
generations. If we were to look back upon our nation and its history, I am
sure that we would see that those who fought, bled and died for our nation
as well as for others, were a splendid reminder of the diversity that is
America---in race, creed and religion. My heart and prayers are with the
nation and specifically with the families and friends of those individuals
who were the victims of this act of cowardice. This being the case I
encourage our nation to be strong and to not fall victim to mass hysteria by
casting blame for the acts of a few onto a the masses. That being said,
good luck and God Speed to all! And to all of my brothers in the United
States Marine Corps....Semper Fi!

Will

I really had not intended to post anymore on non-Cisco topics on the list
today since I feel I did enough of that yesterday, but I feel this cannot go
without a response.

Please people, try to contain and direct your anger to the individuals
involved in this act. While they may have been of Muslim faith (albeit an
extreme sect) PLEASE remember that not all Muslims share the views of a few
radicals. I would hate to see hate-crimes against a religious group because
of this.

Lets take it back to Cisco now.

Heather
