RSTP is pretty new and just starting to get adopted. I found this at Cisco's site:
"The Catalyst 4000, 6000, and 6500 series switches do not support Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) in its native form, but Multiple Spanning Tree (MST) (802.1s) uses a modified version of RSTP (802.1w). This modified version is incorporated inside of MST and provides a fast convergence time in case of a failure in the network." See here: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/123.html A search onf RSTP at Cisco's site would help you find more info. _______________________________ Priscilla Oppenheimer www.troubleshootingnetworks.com www.priscilla.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > The IEEE specification describes, besides other things, the > Spanning Tree > protocol. > > The IEEE 802.1W describes the Rapid Spanning Tree Algorithm and > Protocol > (RSTP).
