I have a similar question, we're an ISP with our own ASN and we're multihomed to two Tier 1 providers, we'll call them ASN10 and ASN20. We have a customer that wants to use ASN20 symmetrically for their traffic while having ASN10 available in case of a failure. Would this be accomplished using

You'll probably need to use as prepends to control traffic in both directions from the ISP side... To control user's OUTBOUND traffic patterns: On the BGP connections to these users, for any of the less preferred routes (from AS2 and AS3), you want to

that AS1 was originally BBN, which only makes sense, since they are at least partially to blame for all of this fuss over data connectivity in the first place. - Original Message - From: Chuck To: Sent: Sunday, May 12, 2002 2:50 PM Subject: Re: BGP Multihoming Policy [7:43962] Howard C

on the user's router you'll want to have them apply a route-map to routes from AS1 that sets the local pref to 200 (or something higher than the default of 100). Those routes will then be used over any from the other AS's for outbound traffic from that user. If the user wants to control inbound

Thanks a lot, Rob for your answers. Is it possible to apply those policies in the ISP routers, rather than in users' routers. If so, which attributes are the most appropriate ? Rob Ehlers wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... on the user's router you'll want to have

Well, obviously, the users are connected to the ISP private ASNs. There are three of them and I would like to control the exit to my upstreams but I prefer to configure the BGP attributes in my local routers, instead of doing it in the remote routers at the user ends. Currently, all the users
