I took the CCIE Written yesterday just to see how difficult it was. It is the most difficult exam that I've ever seen except maybe for the MCSE 2000 Accelerated. I would advise anyone planning to take this exam not to take it lightly.
It is difficult, much more difficult than the old one. I've taken and passed both the CCNP and CCDP recertification exams recently and they are easy compared to this. Don't waste your $300 if you don't know ALL the topics listed in the blueprint. I saw questions in the exam from every topic listed in the blueprint. I congratulate the exam designers/writers for making it this difficult. You really have to know a lot and be able to understand the topics in depth in order to pass.
