Thanks for everyone's input on this. I'm familiar with the 2900 line, and
know the 1900 models are for the 'budget minded'. I'll have to see what kind
of functionality I get out of its little command line option, see if it's at
all like the real thing.

It really depends on the level of code that you are running on the 1900.
Don't confuse the 1900 and the 2900 switches, they do not use the same type
of IOS code.

The 1900 uses a menu based system on the non-enterprise versions of code.
On the enterprise versions of code there is an option to go to the command
line, which is basically an IOS feel to it.

Either way, you are able to get the concepts of the switch ideas with this
switch.  For CCNP, I would say it is a toss up, but I would not get it to
study for the CCIE.

                oops,  sorry I misread your messsage.  the 1900's use
basically the same CLI
                but they are a little different fron the rest of the switch
product line.
                the 1900 is the model used in the Cisco ICND class.
