Not necessarily. I believe that if you break yourself into rmmon, you can still use your ethernet port reguardless of IOS. Make sure the switch port is on portfast. I don't recall the exact proceedure to do it, but if theres a call for it, I'll go find a router and break the network -Jeff On

Since your ethernet port is down, tftp distater recovery is out. The xmodem option is fine, but I would recommend setting the console speed to 115200 or you will be there a while. If that isn't possible, you may as well get started. I have done this in the past and always used 'xmodem -y filena
