Phil, I found an awesome document on Cisco website about a jumper on the 2600 and 3600 routers called J3. This jumper will reset the baud rate of the console port back to 9600. I'm assuming you have physical access to the router since you can use the console port. Check this link out. I tried it out on a 2620 and it worked great. I love finding new little tips and tricks.
