Pretty sure you have to complete the CCDA exam before attempting the CCDP.

Yes,
CCDA is a prerequisite.
To get the CCDP you need:
DCN (Designing Cisco Networks)
FRS (Foundations) (or the other three separate tests)
CID (Cisco Internetwork Design)
If you already have your CCNP, all you need is the DCN and CID.

Luckily, there is serious test overlap between the ccnp and ccdp, so you
won't need to take a ton of tests, but
