When running in hybrid (non IOS mode) on the 6509, this allows the
multilayer shortcut-switching feature to work with the supervisor module.
The MSFC is the equivalent of a Netflow Feature Card (NFFC) and RSM in the

Don't know the ins-and-outs of MLS, but that command would enable
Multi-Layer Switching for VLAN 1. MLS allows layer 3 shortcuts by sharing
info with the layer 2 CAM. This is what gives Layer 3 switches the ability
to switch packets measuring in the mpps range.

The first line creates an virtual interface called VLAN1
The second line allows multilayered switching to occur for all accounts on
VLAN 1. This follows the Route one switch many theory of operations on a
network.
