If I think I understand what you are trying to do, you may want 
to consider using one of a couple of options.  If fault 
tolerance is yor main objective, take a look at HSRP using 
interface tracking.  I believe that will work well for your 
purposes:

Depending upon what you are trying to do and the latency of the 
links, you may also want to consider Multichassis Multilink PPP
