First, I noted that you used the backup interface command on a
physical interface. Have you considered the idea of using
dialer interfaces as the backup interface? When you do this,
it offers you a little bit more flexibility. For example, I
noted that your
I ran into a similar problem. In my case, the issue was that I needed to
add a route that the ISDN interface was performing backup for, give it a
higher admin distance, so that it wouldn't bring up the backup interface
unless the primary route failed, and assign it to the interface.
