Switches/cables [7:3673]

I looked at my G4 mac and the Apple System Profiler says 100Mbps/full duplex. The 3548 XL switch says 100Mbps/full duplex. How could that be possible when the patch panel connectors are 10Mbps and the connector on the wall is 10Mbps. The cable is Cat 5. I thought everything was suppose to
