Anyone on the list remember the nightly meditations that television stations used to do just before they signed off? After this weekend's long road, I think I'll begin a tradition.
Today's meditation: distribute-lists are way more cool than you might think. also way more frustrating, given what the CCO documentation seems to say versus what my experiments seem to show. you can use multiple distribute lists in and out of a routing process. you can apply multiple distribute-lists outbound for different interfaces you can even use distribute-lists to block certain prefixes from being advertised into OSPF, although those prefixes will still show up in the OSPF database finally, not having to do with distribute-lists in particular, but with faith in general. seeing is believing. interpretation is not. never doubt that what you see is true. never assume there can be only one reason for what you are seeing. in particular, never forget that when you apply a distribute list to an interface and it appears not to be working, it could be that you forgot to remove that second interface that you were using for another reason earlier in the weekend. ( soothing music. pretty pictures ) good night, everyone Chuck -- continuing to work on the content, but maybe by next weekend: www.chuckslongroad.info Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7&i=51628&t=51628 -------------------------------------------------- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
