Transit traffic is traffic that enters and exits your network without its
destination being on your network. As an example, if my company uses two
different ISPs and I'm using BGP, it is possible - without the proper
precautions - that traffic between the two ISPs will use my internal
network
.
Transit traffic is that which travels from one AS to another by way of an
intermediary AS. The intermedialry AS is the transit AS because it is used
to essentially move the traffic between As's.

I bellive transent traffic would be "sub-optimal routing", or traffic that
is not addressed to you network. Another way of saying it... this is
traffic that should never get to your network because there should be a
better path to its destination... its just "passing through" to get to where
it
Hi,
Could somebody there can explain me what do you mean by transit
traffic in the contest of BGP . What kind of information does it
carries.
TIA,
-Subbi.
