If my ISDN BRI has a U Interface built in, can I just plug my ISDN circuit
in and start using it or do I have to get a NT1 adapter.

NT1 is necessary only if you have an S/T interface. U interface has a
built-in NT1. You're good to go.

The U interface contains a built in NT1 and if you have an S interface
an external NT-1 would be needed.
