Hi Ron, I agree with John that IPSEC can be really hard at times. But token ring, DLSW, IPX is boring and is hard for no reason. i have heard that if you have taken ccie routing and switching lab attempt (pass or fail) ccie security lab is most logical choice to go to. Honestly, IPSEC is not that hard for me. I did CSS1 in less than a month and CCIE Security written right after that with my knowledge of CCIE R/S and security topics (that i acquired in a month).
I am betting that CCIE Security cert will be equally good. R/S and Security together will be the job security, i think. For the practice labs, I bought from these folks at Hello Computers. To say the least, that is good quality stuff. I highly recommend these labs to you Ron. http://www.hellocomputers.com/cisco/ccie_security/ccie_security.htm -Bob- -----Original Message----- From: John Kaberna [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 02, 2001 12:57 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: ccie security advice [7:25024] It really depends if you have a solid background with Cisco security products. The core topics are basically going to be the same between the two labs. AFAIK, the major difference is desktop protocols are removed and security stuff is added. I personally think that they can make the security stuff a lot harder than the desktop stuff. You'll have to pick your poison. Ccbootcamp/NETCG will be coming out with a lab subscription service in a few weeks. We've already begun writing labs. John Kaberna CCIE #7146 NETCG Inc.
