First, I wish to thank all of you who contributed to the question of network design. In particular, I would like to thank Larry Letterman who spent a fair bit of time, and explained in detail, why he made changes and what benefits these changes made. The end result: Each switch in the network, has a GBIC connection to the core. Originally, only 2 switch's per floor would have a fibre link to the core, and all other switch's on that level would "daisy chain" from that. It was put forward to me, that in the event of a failue back to the core, I could have a potential problem with STP between switch's. The root switch, would see multiple STP networks. This could leed to a problem. Besides that, just simple configuration will get through the implementation phase. Have trunk links carrying for all VLANS on the switchs. Assign VLAN membership per port and away we go. If any one is interested in seeing the final design, please feel free to ask for the doco. Its really such a simple design. I had around 20 people willing to help. I wish to thank you, the un-sung hero's. John Sydney, Australia
