IP input being high could be a symptom of Code Red.

I have also seen ip input get really high due to IP fragmentation. Do you 
have your mtu set too high? Do other devices communicating through the 
router have the mtu set too high?

Have you searched on ip input at Cisco's site?

One simple search on "ip input" (in quotes, mind you) came up with this 
warning about Code Red:
