(What project will the NPW be working on?)

Initial configuration of Juniper, Cisco, Checkpoint, etc. firewalls. This
requires knowledge of vendor specific commands and knowledge of base
firewall behavior, as well as network device behavior (switches, routers,
load balancers, etc.). Also requires use of vendor tools (Juniper NSM,
Checkpoint management console, Cisco TACACS [user], etc.)* Configuration
and policy management, utilizing management platform or CLI (command line
interface). This includes knowledge of where to place rules/filters, as
well as knowledge of correcting conflicting rules/filters in the policy.
This also requires knowledge of using vendor tools to streamline the policy
and make it operate more efficiently.* Daily management of problem records;
use of commercially available and custom problem management tools (Remedy,
Managenow, Impact, AOTS, etc.) to document actions taken in recovery of
firewall issues affecting the end customer. This includes documenting
specific customer, management, client relations interactions and the root
cause.* Management of change records; use of commercially available and
customer change management tools (see above) to request or utilize change
windows in the ongoing management of the environment. This includes
documenting the change requirements, commands to be run (sometimes) and any
activities (cabling, interface adds, etc.) to be performed on production
equipment. This activity also requires interaction and coordination with
the end customer (users) to ensure a test plan exists and will be executed
after changes are completed. * Participation in planning activities
pertaining to projects that impact or require input from the firewall team.
This could include validation of architecture or design plans, inclusive of
discussions with the customer and/or architects to validate the expected
outcome of the project. This also involves directing project managers and
client representatives through the appropriate process(es) to ensure
financial recovery for expended labor. This also includes opening and/or
approving change records or tasks in the change management tool, indicating
agreement with the planned activities.

Looking for Senior Data Networking engineer, 7+ years of Cisco, remote
position, expert in design of Routers, Switches and Wireless, installation
experience with large enterprises 500 sites +, customer facing skills and a
lead on multiple projects.

Expert, required, for (router, switches, wireless)


* Summary of Skill Requirements*
* Knowledge of stateful firewall behavior and management (Juniper, Cisco,
Checkpoint/Nokia, etc.)
* Knowledge of VPN settings, behavior, and troubleshooting (non-vendor
specific)
* Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and behaviors through a network and
specific devices (primarily firewalls)
* Knowledge of the OSI model (what occurs at each layer, and what devices
operate at each layer)
* 2 -3 years of hands on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and
maintaining firewalls (multiple vendors)
* 2 -3 years implementing and troubleshooting site-to-site VPNs (IPSeC,
etc.) and ability to explain hashing and encryption schemas
* Knowledge of using TCPDUMP and other trace tools (some built-in vendor
specific) to pinpoint issues
* Ability to communicate with teammates, customers, and management during
critical situations, providing status and action plans for resolution
* Ability to multi-task, balancing projects with daily responsibilities
* Ability to review designs for security compliance and functionality to
address customer requirements (correct vendors, h/w model, code levels,
etc.)
* Ability and desire to document environments to facilitate team inclusion
and training opportunities that will satisfy ongoing supportability (use of
Visio, Sharepoint, MS Word, Excel, PPT, Lotus Notes, etc.)
* Ability to perform code upgrades/downgrades, as well as provide debug
information to vendors when applicable; this requires in-depth knowledge of
command line/advanced option menus and knowledge of vendor process(es) for
problem ticket submission.
