*Please send resume to s...@cncconsulting.com * Job Title: Network Engineer (2 positions) Location: Columbia, SC Duration: 4 Months Direct Client Position Client: State of SC Thorough knowledge of Ethernet; TCP/IP; routing protocols; VLAN’s and network trunking; routers, switches, wireless access points and other network hardware. Experience with Cisco IOS is required; Cisco certification is preferred. Juniper Junos knowledge is also preferred. Proficient written and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to plan, organize and complete multiple projects simultaneously, either alone or as part of a team. Must possess a valid class-D driver’s license, and be able to pass a criminal background check. Ability to analyze data and provide solutions to complex problems. Ability to prepare technical and user-friendly reports in a clear and concise manner. Ability to establish working relationships with customers, fellow employees, contractors and vendors. Under general supervision, this employee will provide advanced technical consulting to users concerning network routing, switching, and security. Employee must be willing to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays and be “on-call” 24 hours /day, 7 days/week. Employee must be able to occasionally climb or crawl into confined spaces and work where network equipment is deployed. Employee must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and be able to use common hand tools. Some in-State travel is required to remote sites when necessary. DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Using industry best practices, design, install, configure and troubleshoot network devices and their operating systems to ensure quality IT services are delivered to state and local government. 2) Responds to service requests from CA/Service Desk in a timely manner. When service requests are assigned, determines how to apply network best practices. After determining the service request requirements and documenting the necessary network platform and/or modifications, submits change request to change management system. Upon change management approval, employee completes the modifications on the network platforms and/or software in order to resolve the service request. 3) Analyze data to provide solutions to complex problems and assist in resolving issues. When a network problem is reported, uses the tools available such as Cisco's Real-Time Log Viewer, Cisco's MARS and Enterasys' TALON SIEM to determine the issue. Then communicates his findings to the others involved and corrects the issue when possible 4) Maintain services, applications and operating systems, including DNS, firewalls, VPN, SolarWinds, syslogs, ACS and wireless control systems to support network activities.. 5) Utilize test environments, when possible, to evaluate and test new network configurations or hardware so that the network can be improved with no adverse impact to customers. 6) Works directly with customers to develop, design, implement, and manage network architecture to support and secure customer data and information technology processes related to customer service delivery functions. 7) Creates and maintains network documentation, design drawings, security diagrams, procedures and policies using Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio. 8) Mentor, cooperate with, learn from and support other members of business units in order to complete complex tasks, resolve troubles, and fulfill service requests at a high level of professionalism and positive customer service.
