Resumes must reference experience in the projects listed* BWC is seeking a Sr. VmWare engineer They MUST have strong VMWare skills. They will be working closely with VMware, storage, OS, application, database and network teams to recommend, install, configure, optimize, monitor and troubleshoot database functionality and performance across varying load and performance scenarios (e.g. transactional –vs- data warehouse, production –vs- test, etc). The selected resource should have experience supporting fault-tolerant and disaster-recoverable configurations, including concepts such as storage replication. They should be able to project future usage and resource needs based on observed performance and resource trends and has knowledge of data security, and any of the products that may be used to enable or enhance data/database/application security to meet our security requirements. The contractor selected should posses Enterprise Senior Data Center experience involving systems/network administration in large server farms, the knowledge to set up of new physical/virtual environments, having the ability to perform hardware/software upgrades, knowledge to implement security guidelines, and ability to provide performance tuning to systems. The person will work with the Build/Systems team to provide this functionality and infrastructure system support. *Technical Certifications:* VMware Certified Professional 5- Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) VMware Certified Professional 5- Desktop (VCP5-DT) *Typical Daily Activities: * Contractor will operate in a SA4 role performing the following duties: The primary focus of this role is providing advanced senior VMware engineer experience and bring insight and direction where applicable. Other duties include… • Provide excellent customer service and posses great communication skills • Provide “As Built” documentation to BWC system team • Deliver Knowledge Transfer sessions to BWC system team • Research and recommend where possible automated approaches for implementing specific given tasks • Have the ability to script or program in JavaScript, Power shell, Perl, Java, Python, or similar languages • Monitoring Infrastructure, VMware that requires in-depth knowledge of tools including vCenter Server, vCenter Operations, vFoglight, • Linux and Windows OS that requires in-depth knowledge of MS perfmon, eventlogs and usage for log searching • Senior Hardware experience that involves knowledge and understanding of using Insight Manager to monitory in Hardware Experience *VMware Experience:* • Minimum 5 years working experience with multi-tiered applications running on VMware vSphere • Senior Architectural Design and implementation experience • Knowledge and ability to manage virtual desktops • Senior Admin experience and expertise in managing multiple Datacenters, Clusters, Hosts • Expertise in VMware Windows, Unix, Solaris, and Linux operating systems • Managing ESXi 4.x, 5.x w/ vCenter and Update Manager, Remote CLI, PowerCLI • Vmware networking with Virtual Distributed Switches (including Nexus 1000v) • VMware storage configurations(NFS, fiber channel, iSCSCi) • DR solutions and business continuity solutions • Vmware Security (following Vmware hardening guides) • Monitoring and Performance troubleshooting • Skilled in documenting systems and procedures. • Ability to provide a direction for Infrastructure upgrades and future enhancements *These best practices include:* • Knowledge of security awareness and best practices utilizing security baselines • Major version administration and upgrades in an environment of 100+ VMs. • NIC teaming and failover. • Ability to configure HA and DRS. • VMware update manager. • Configuration and management of VMware networking including the VMware VSS or VDS. • VMware template management. • Ability to install, configure, and manage vCenter • Ability to create and configure vSwitches, VDS, Port Groups, Network Policies within virtual infrastructure Vmware (vShield) - Optional *Other Experience* : Experience in managing and leading IT Projects, General Knowledge of networking and security.
