Thanks, Cynthia, but I can't take much credit because I merely parrot
what is said by people who do the real research. BTW, I think what is
written or presented here by Anjana, Trey, Richard and Rob are also to
be believed.

you MUST talk to this group first to be "added" to the assistance program
before they will accept the application that Rob sent the PDF file for
earlier.
If you DO have insurancethis is how
I don't know how BMS handles their patient assistance program but I think Novartis has in the past assisted people in getting Gleevec on the formulary list with insurance companies. It might be a good idea to talk to someone at BMS and see if there is anything the drug company can do to help get Sp
It varies a lot from state to state but Medicaid usually allows people to keep a house, a car, etc. It does not allow patients to have very much in their name but is often the only option open to people with serious illnesses because of the way the healthcare system works.

Hi Cynthia,
Thank you for your kind words. I guess we all just try to do our best
to understand this rather complicated disease. Not being a scientist
nor a doctor, I would encourage everyone to do their own investigating
as much as possible. It is very difficult at times to fully understand

All this talk about Sprycel not being covered made me curious as to what my
coverage was as we have BC/BS also. Although we are covered for Rx by
another plan in the same package. I called this morning and they told me
Sprycel was on their approved drug list for the usual co-pay. So, I am

Thanks for the information regarding the patient assistant program for the
BMS drug Sprycel. It does not appear that I would be eligible due to being
insured by BC/BS and Medicare. So I'm sending off to the BC/BS specialty
pharmacy program in Kansas to see if they will fill the prescrilption
I have blue cross blue shield. This is considered a nonformulary drug
because the formulary comittee doesn't meet until December . So I have

Katy I am so so sorry!! I can't imagine how I would handle what happened to you. I do want you to tell Dale something for me. He is a hell of a man in my book!! Also for those of you out there who's spouses have stayed and supported you...The same goes for them whether they are a husband
Hi Rob and all,
In my state, FL, you can't have many resources to apply for Medicaid.
My Dr. said I could get the Gleevec free when I first dx. but not if you have insurance.
I have insurance so I had to come up with the huge deductable in order to get the Gleevec.
Read my other e-mail.

Hi Susan,
I am on private insurance and Medicare; my private insurance pays for the Gleevec but with a huge deductable.
Read my last e-mail to the group.

Hi Katy,
My heart goes out to you and to all who are struggling to buy these cancer drugs.
I think we should all write our congressmen and anyone else who will listen.
A person with cancer is usually so scared they will pay any price for a cure.
They are feeding on this fear and it just isn't ri
