Hello everybody:
Thank you so much everybody, especially Anjana and Zavie for their

I am 31 years old and I was dx at 2004. I am in 600Mg of Gleevec (from

Just wanted to add to Anjana's note that the study she referred to
compared current Spyrcel treatment to historical data with 800 mg
Gleevec. MD Anderson is also running a trial in newly diagnosed CML
patients treated with Tasigna and it is also showing that while

Hi all,
Just wanted to add that a FISH test was done on my marrow when I had the BMA
done.
The one on my marrow was positive and the one on my blood was negative.
I just don't understand why?

Hi Kathy,
I am now on 600 mgs and doing pretty good on it.
I will get a cbc tomorrow and let you know the results.
I wrote to Dr Druker and he thought I might have a mutation; I hope not but
we do have the other meds to turn to if we get it.
I should get the PCR results next week.
I pray yours
Thanks, Susan. It seems like your experience with dosage is pretty
unique. Is that why they monitor your gleevec levels? Also, does Dr.
Druker do all your PCR tests? I've seen Dr. Cortes at Anderson and he
has always done PCR. But he wasn't very interested in the PCR results
I had from Quest
Thanks again--that is really helpful. Bone marrow biopsies don't
bother me as much as thinking about transplant. For that reason, I've
avoided the drs that list transplant as their expertise/interest.
I've been blessed to see Dr. Cortes at MD Anderson 3 times, and I've
emailed him for direction
Yes she is very informative and gave me excellent care. She was very concered
about the fact that I continued to suffer severe side effects so she contacted
one of the specialist at Baptist hospital to see if I qualifed for a trial
program one time but I didn't. But she took it on herself to exp
Guys, when you are having issues with Gleevec and REALLY want to know
the answers, hop on a plane (LLS might even pay for it within their
scholarships) and talk with Dr. Druker. He is the inventor and the
master with Gleevec. Why pussy foot around with your lives at stake?
I do not get it

Dear Kathy,
You ask a very pertinent question. We can only go by the data from
the newly diagnosed patient Sprycel versus 800mg Gleevec trial, the
data was presented at ASCO 2007 by Dr. Atallah of MDACC. I am giving
the article below from Oncology News. The MMR rate (major molecular
