Thanks for all the information that has been shared on this topic. Received and email from Dr Cortes this evening and he recommends a full evaluation to determine if this is relapse or not. Will talk to my local dr in the am to see if we will do this here or in Houston. I wanted to let you all k

Dear Lenda, I am so glad you have reached PCR 3-log on Sprycel. I just posted the results of the Sprycel versus 800mg Gleevec trial for patients resistant to lower Gleevec doses and indeed, Sprycel does better than 800mg Gleevec from the trial. But hearing experiences are even better! I hope

Yes, quite right, Tim. We need to look at the newly diagnosed patient Sprycel versus Gleevec randomized trial data to be very accurate :-) However, in last ASH 2007, the Gleevec-resistant patient randomized trial data Sprycel versus 800mg Gleevec was reported and more MMRs were seen with Sprycel

Dear Jeanie, FISH from the blood is seen most of the time to have lower values than FISH from the marrow. There are studies on that. Marrow FISH is more reliable than peripheral blood FISH. My husband has 4 vials of blood taken for quantitative PCR. The more the volume of the blood, the g

This also happened to me this past October. I was on 400mg of Gleevec from June '05 to October '06 when my bcr-abl spiked. The doctor waited for four weeks and ran the test again to be sure, but it spiked even further in November. Instead of increasing my dose to 600 or 800 he switched me to Sp

Just wanted to add to Anjana's note that the study she referred to compared current Spyrcel treatment to historical data with 800 mg Gleevec. MD Anderson is also running a trial in newly diagnosed CML patients treated with Tasigna and it is also showing that while Cytogenetic responses are much

Hi all, Just wanted to add that a FISH test was done on my marrow when I had the BMA done. The one on my marrow was positive and the one on my blood was negative. I just don't understand why? I though my onc orderd a PCR drip test this tinme. Does anyone know what this is? They took 4 vials of

Hi Kathy, I am now on 600 mgs and doing pretty good on it. I will get a cbc tomorrow and let you know the results. I wrote to Dr Druker and he thought I might have a mutation; I hope not but we do have the other meds to turn to if we get it. I should get the PCR results next week. I pray yours

Dear Kathy, You ask a very pertinent question. We can only go by the data from the newly diagnosed patient Sprycel versus 800mg Gleevec trial, the data was presented at ASCO 2007 by Dr. Atallah of MDACC. I am giving the article below from Oncology News. The MMR rate (major molecular response

Hi Kathy, My recent FISH done from BMA came back with positive philies cells. However, there were no blast cells. The reason my onc did a BMA was that my platelets were increasing. He increased my Gleevec to 600 megs and I recently had a PCR test; don't have the results yet. How are your bl

A 4% positive FISH could possibly be a false positive, since it has approx 5% margin of error. But you should not assume that is the case, but should have a PCR done, and a BMB is also a good idea if you have not had one recently. You might also want to have a Gleevec Resistance Test, since that
