Hi Anjana, My dad was hospitalised as he was suffering from severe headache and vommiting on 28th May (Sunday). CT scan revelead bleeding in the brain but the neurosurgeon ruled out and operation as he told me that its very minor and is due to low platlet count. On Sunday night Platlet counts were 7,000 and he also suffered internal bleeding. The docs transfused platlets and now his platlet are in the range of 50,000. He is now off the Glivec and will meet the onc on 12th June as his TLC has also gone down to 1400 and on Monday it was 800. The doc told me that the counts will be up within a week and then they can start Glivec. He was discharged on 1st June as they told me that he is at safety point and will not bleed.
Sometimes I think that I should ask the doc to let him remain off from Glivec for the mean time as his counts go down using Glivec and should Hydrea as was used earlier may be that could help me out. He is in Blast Crisis so the docs are not very hopeful of his survival for long so why not go off the Glivec so atleast he doesn't have to bear the pain associated with low counts. Bye and take care and wishing all the best for BMB of Roy and wishing him to be a member of club zero. I was quite shocked after checking my mail and not finding any mail from you but then I realized I didn't query anything in my last mail. Amit.
