Wal,
What you say is perfectly true, but...
There are deminishingly few battery manufacturers in the US because of the
impacts of environmental and OSHA regulations. And for the past decade or so
Walmart batteries have been made by Globe Battery Div of Johnson Controls. They
also make batterie
Hi David,
Sounds like a good trip! Did you see the other 38-III listing in
Seattle:

Here's the datasheet for comparison. Let me know if you are
interested, and would like to see the boat.
Thanks, Lee
PS
I was chatting with a Walmart clerk in their automotive department several
months ago. She said she would never buy a Walmart battery. Your
experience may be different.
Delco Voyager batteries for me, period. Find batteries near you here:

We are making a trip to Vancouver Island this weekend, mostly just a
romantic weekend away but we are going to have a look at a boat or 2 while
we're there. Just a hands on research exercise, I dont see us being really
serious about commuting to the coast right now but in the next few years it
Costco cheapest in my experience. Of course there is a difference between a vw
fix in Montreal and a 38 Ft boat offshore. I think offshore I would be more
inclined to go with a well trusted brand

No one is ever done drilling holes in a boat. Is one of the most satisfying

I might still consider it if they were considerably cheaper and where the

And I don't want to sound cynical, but WalMart doesn't manufacture
anything. With the purchasing power that they have, they can dictate
terms to any supplier. And they do. The battery that you get from
WalMart or Sam's Club this year can be entirely different from the
battery you'll get next
Consumer Reports rated the Walmart batteries very highly.
I have good experience with them for starting battery (RV deep cycle). My
house is a pair of golf-cart batteries.

True. When I did it, I had an enormous collection of hole saws on

Hi,
I replaced my rudder bushing with one I made from material ordered from
McMaster-Carr. I cut the bushing out of the material using a sabre saw and
then cleaned up the edges with a Dremel sanding drum. As I understand, only
the planar surfaces are important. The material cost was $20 f

They probably built the masts for Ontario Yachts back in the '70s.
Hi All,
I recently re-did my battery and switch set up in Gabriela (just this last
week as a matter of fact)
During the sea trials of purchasing the boat, I did something stupid (which
I am prone to do), I didn t really study the electrics.
I tested the lights, instruments, started the boa
A friend with a Viking 33 broke his spar and is looking for a
replacement. The cross section dimensions are the same as 35-1. Does
anyone on this list know of a 35-1 mast (or better yet Viking 33/34
mast) that is available? Holland Marine has one that is brand new and
great price but is too short

turned out that one of the starter solenoid wire spade clips was 99% off of

Back in July, I replaced my starter and solenoid because my solenoid went bad
and I could only buy the solenoid with a starter. The new starter and solenoid
are not Yanmar manufactured.
Recently, when going thru my spare engine parts, I found a new-in-box Yanmar
solenoid (whoops). Since I can
