Hi
Purchased the following heater from “The Binnacle” in Halifax. I did this
since we sail from beginning of May til end of October every year. Not
interested in a wall furnace just some heat while under motor (deliveries, etc…)
Don't store smelly bags of garbage in that locker during cool weather!

Jim,
If your water lines are the original grey tubing then replacing the lines are a
good idea. I would also recommend replacing the fill hose(they get pretty
funky and are cheap to replace). Take the time to inspect the water tanks. I
found a crack midway up on the tank in the V-birth. I

A friend had one in his Viking 33. Worked well.
Will you be drawing the air to be heated out of the bilge? Or will it draw
from the cabin? Either seems to work fine, the first helps dry the bilge,
the latter heats the cabin more quickly.

OK, so the air will come from that locker unless you add some duct work to
have it draw from the cabin. Should be fine I think.

Spotted this on their website but your heater should be low enough I'd

Heater will likely be below the level of the hot water tank currently using
these hoses. Also the fresh water pump was replaced this summer so should be
ok for the task

No idea where the air comes from. Not bilge though. Back side of heater will
be in a locker beneath quarter berth.

Good idea on using that area for stowage.
Unless you sail with a mid-wife I don't see much
point in having a birthing area on the boat. :)

OK, this is for real this time. I have a collection of Practical Sailor
magazines that starts in 1987 and ends sometime in 2013. Except for a
couple of issues, it's complete.
It's available to anyone who wants it who is willing to pay shipping.
Danny -- congratulations! You'll have to post some photos somewhere for us to
see.
If you have any questions about interfacing the new VHF, let me know.

Hi Mark,
After I sent the message a thought occurred,
"maybe that's why the water broke?" ... but that
might be a little to obscure for the list so I just laughed out loud at myself.
Sometimes, I'm easily amused.
