I do the same with a line that goes down to just about water level and
allows anyone in the water to pull the stern ladder down. Surprising how
many sailors call my attention to the fact i am dragging a line

Thanks for passing on the link. That 3 minute clip of Gary’s Twelve Meter
movie was awesome. I will have to see the whole thing (anyone know where?).
It brought tears to my eyes watching those beautiful boat. If they have
another 12 meter regatta in Newport in the future, I will be there.
Very worthwhile visuals of the twelve meter boats.
FWIW, I would have liked to see an actual start with all the boats on the line,
more crew work, like position a camera at the windward mark and show every boat
hoisting their spinnaker and then show the spinnaker take downs at the leeward
mark
