Hey Alan,
That's a major major upgrade. Can you share the choices you looked at and
costs please.
Thanks,

Yes, kinks are bad. So are nicks.

When you say ‘inspected in place’, it sounds like you mean, not removing the
shrouds.
While inspecting the rig is certainly a good idea, as far as finding out
obvious problems, like fittings and spreaders, etc, you aren’t
Thanks Andy—they are the one that my local rigger would send my rigging to for
evaluation.

I had the rod rigging replaced on my 35 Mark 3 which I’ve since sold and
replaced with a Quest 33. I was racing the boat, didn’t want to take a change
on losing the rig which was at the time was 30 years old. The cost to replace
it was $8K.

I replaced my mast, rigging and furler in 2020. Instead of using rod, I had
new wire rigging installed, saving several thousands of dollars. I'm
phasing out of racing, so it was a no brainer. When I finally decide to
sell the boat, it won't make a bit of difference in the selling price.

I had the rig out of my 40 a year before I sold her and reheaded most of the
shrouds. It was fairly easy to take apart and and reassemble and the riggers
gave me good instructions so I wouldn’t screw it up. I did the same with my
Baltic 47 before I launched her for the first time.

I echo what Chuck Gilchrest said. My 1984 C 32 is a single spreader,
fully rod rigged. A few years back, for peace of mind, I had a North
Sails rigger inspect it and he said it all looked fine.
If you read the Navtec website, and if I recall correctly, it recommends

Charlie,
I had to have Half Magic (83 Landfall 35) surveyed for insurance purposes with
the mast down and a rig inspection. Rod rigging, single spreader. My surveyor
is a former C Landfall 38 owner. He looked at the attachment points at the
mast to make sure they weren’t seized or cracked,
The heads were a source of concern on the older Navtec design. Shortly after I
bought my 34 (about 20 year old), I had the heads inspected by a local shop.
They used some sort of dye as I recall to facilitate the inspection.
Everything looked okay to them. I also conferred with a mechanical
Charlie,
Due to a boat falling into my standing rigging, I underwent a complete rigging
inspection (mast down). I don’t know if the rigging was ever replaced or
serviced before my ownership, but only a few things were needed (fittings
mostly).
If I were you, I would do a thorough inspection
Hello listers--
My boat is entering her 26th year (delivered for use in 1995) and except for a
replaced forestay, has its original rod-rigging.
Local riggers, among others, believe that rod rigging should be replaced (or
re-headed?) at about 25 years of use. Since C finally bit the dust about 20
