Dave, First thoughts are that it's an in-water repair. Removing a transmission usually means pulling it aft a few inches to clear the connection between the engine and transmission, so you should be able to do this by sliding the prop shaft back just a few inches. It does depend on the

I am motoring from block island to home and just had the motor stop powering the boat. Sailing now with motor off and shaft is turning whether in forward or reverse. Moving shift lever at transmission has no effect. Sounds like my transmission just crapped out. Can sail back but is this an in
