I have those vents (4 inch version) and no leaks yet. They seal from the inside 
if you are worried about it.

Been through some pretty intense stuff and never had any water enter through 
the solar vent.  Touche's vent is forward of the mast also.

Just did a lake race and ended up with a ton of water in the V-Berth Because I
