Hi Graham, I do have the shoal draft version (4’ 3") and race it every Wednesday in our club where there is another C&C 30 with std draft. Yes, he does point higher than me for two reasons : deeper keel and his boat is more recent with the shorter mainsail and a track for the genoa block sheets.
