Hi Tom, I have forgotten the "switch on" a few times. You will lose a few amps to alternator field current and that's about it. In my case I can get a reminder thump from my electric fuel pump impulse (once in awhile) if I'm paying attention. Edson recommends SuperLube as "or equivalent". T
