All of our deck hatches ( 1990 ) are Lewmar and have the type of interior
trim shown in the photo on the website page linked here:

Is your interior trim like this?
Notice the little turn buttons. You can still
to the hatch frame.

Touche' the PO had put stupid Velcro adhesive strips and a screen on the
headliner. I removed all the Velcro adhesive
My 1995 36 XL/kcb has 5 hatches that were initially 'screened' with plastic
screen material and held in place with sewn Velcro on the screen edges which
'stuck' to Velcro which was either glued or just stuck to the cabin interior
around the hatches via the Velcro sticky backing.
This worked OK
